Harwich created two chances in the first 5 minutes, firstly when Matt Geen's angled shot went just wide and then when Andy Gibbons 25 yard shot struck the crossbar with the keeper beaten. The Shrimpers continuted to have the edge and Michael Hammond's shot was only inches wide. Harwich took the lead in the 40minute with a move started by skipper Ashley Wood's well placed header and finished when Geen hooked home his shot.
The Shrimpers scored a vital second goal early in the second half with a neat shot on the turn by Geen. Harwich were finding their men well and went close again when Ollie Lamb's header hit the post. In the 70th minute Luke Barnard then created the opportunity for Geen to complete a fine hat trick. It had been an excellent second half for the Shrimpers and with 5 minutes remaining Sam Thompson set up Barnard who made no mistake to complete the scoring.
