Arlesford started brightly and during this period Harwich keeper Jordan Giddings made a good save from Bryan Lewis and defender Ryan Munson made a goaline clearance. Having weathered this start, Harwich came back strongly and new signing Neville Barratt gave them a 25th minute lead with a volley. The last ten minutes of the half were to prove decisive with Ryan Lewis equalising in the 35th minute and then in the 44th minute Dan Boxall gave Arlesford the lead with a header following a corner kick.
Harwich suffered a blow losing Barratt to an injury and he looks an excellent, experienced player who could greatly help the Shrimpers cause.
After the break Harwich were on top with Matt Geen having a shot saved and Barratt's replacement Ashley Wood also testing the keeper. This pattern continued right up to the closing stages with Michael Murray coming forward to shoot narrowly wide. The final whistle came with Harwich still unable to get the point that their efforts deserved;
