Gas Rec took the lead in the 20th minute despite strong appeals by the Harwich defence for handball when following pressure from a corner Dean West headed home. Then in the 35th minute Gas Rec scored a fine second goal, Aston Firkins crossing for John Bulmer to steal in on the blind side of the Harwich defence and head smartly home. Despite some Harwich attacks, Gas Rec were the best side in the first half and deserved their lead. It was a different story after the break with Harwich fighting back with some good football. Unfortunately they couldn't turn their advantage into goals. Encouraging signs for the Shrimpers with excellent work rate and ability to turn opponents - need to finish in front of goal.
