Harwich were trying to upset the form book and fought hard against 5th placed West Bergholt.

West Bergholt had more of the attacking play in the first half but Harwich defended really well to not allow them clear cut chances. In fact Harwich probably had the best chance of this period when Matt McGowan-Harvey found Craig Martin with a superb long pass but the striker could not get his first time shot on target.
Encouraged to be on level terms at the break the Shrimpers showed more in attack after the interval. Ashley Wood was within inches of scoring with a well struck low drive that had West Bergholt goalkeeper Bethall struggling. His opposite number Sam Felgate did well to save with his feet when West Bergholt looked certain to score. Ben Elliott's shot was well saved by Bethall at the expense of a corner. West Bergholt's vital goal came in the 68th minute when Callum Gildea cleverly diverted the ball past Felgate. Central defender Jake Neale has been a rock for Harwich this season and his fellow defenders helped to keep their team in contention. At the final whistle Harwich were still trying for an equaliser but it was not to be.
