Coggeshall Town are hell bent on promotion to the Eastern Counties League and are currently in second place in the Border League with all to play for. By contrast Harwich would be happy to acheive their current mid table position after the turbulent events of recent seasons.
Coggeshall took the lead in the 13th minute through Dan McCulloch but the Shrimpers battled hard and kept them at bay until the closing stages of the half. Harwich had a couple of chances during this period, notably with the visitors keeper saving from Ashley Wood. Then in the 40th minute McCulloch added Town's second and when 4 minutes later Kane Deobolowski netted their 3rd goal with a super shot into the far corner of the net, Hawich were left with a mountain to climb.
During the second half Harwich put some good moves together but Shrimpers keeper Sam Felgate had to produce a Man of the Match performance to prevent Coggeshall adding to their score. Ben Elliott was a live wire in the Harwich attack and in the 70th minute he scored with a fine solo effort to give his team a deserved consolation goal.
Harwich have no fixture next Saturday because Weeley's previously postponed Essex Premier Cup quater final match takes preference.
