Great Cup win for Harwich over high flyers West Bergholt
The Shrimpers are through to the Quarter Final of the Knock Out Cup and a home tie against Weeley.
Harwich had gained in confidence from last weeks victory over Lawford and had the upper hand in this match against 4th placed West Bergholt for the first 15 minutes. The Shrimpers strike force of Matt Geen and Ben Elliott combined well and went close before Bergholt came back with Gareth Gibson.s effort striking the crossbar. West Bergholt took the lead in the 33rd minute Sam Cripps scored from Callum Gilde's cross.
Harwich equalised in the 50th minute when Elliott slotted the ball past goalkeeper Luke Bethell at the second attempt. Dom Nea made an important interception when Bergholt threatened and then Harwich suffered a set back when they lost his central defence partner Jake Neale through injury. West Bergholt regained the lead in the 74th minute when Jake Bethell set up Ryan Garvey who turned smartly to net. There was a thrilling finish by Harwich when Richard Traynor put them on terms with a headed goal from a corner in the 87th minute and then in the last minute Elliott headed their winner.
A fine team effort from a Harwich team who are now bonding together well.
