Three vital points for Harwich

Harwich almost scored in the 5th minute when the Lawford defence was torn apart and Matt Geen rocketed his shot against the crossbar. The fierce wind was making things difficult for both teams but just before half time Ashley Wood brilliantly used the conditions to his advantage when he flighted his shot from the half way line into the roof of the net to give Harwich the lead.
The teams mastered the conditions better in the second half to provide an entertaining encounter. Lawford keeper Hopkins made a good save from Michael Hammond. Harwich scored their important second goal in the 65th minute when in a race for the ball striker Ben Elliott blocked Hopkins attempted clearance and with both players grounded he steered his shot into the corner of the net. It was an excellent opportunist goal by Elliott in his second appearance for Harwich. The Shrimpers were buoyed up now and had become the better team to go on to a deserved victory.
