The Harwich defence did well during the first 45 minutes to keep Holland at bay. Dom Nea has played in attack for the Shrimpers but with unavailablity they moved him to centre half and paired with Jake Neale, he had an excellent game. Harwich had one golden chance during this half when Craig Martin was clean through but when he tried to lob the advancing keeper he failed to get any height on his shot.
Harwich were undone in the 52nd minute when Steve Eaton showed real quality with a shot out of the blue which went in off the far post giving goalkeeper Sam Felgate chance. This was the signal for Holland to get the better of the Shrimpers defence and 5 minutes later Rob Thorne crossed for Bruce Poole to net the second goal. Harwich were still competing strongly and when Matt Geen put live wire Martin throuigh he was just offside. Darren Bethell also had a chance for the Shrimpers but his shot was inches outside the post. Harwich hopes were cruelly shattered when in attempting to clear Luis Reynolds put through his own goal. Holland fourth goal came in the last minute through substitute Joe Martin to give a scoreline that did not do justice to Harwich who could not be faulted for effort.
