The Shrimpers had a goalkeeping problem with Lee Timmins injured and Sam Felgate unavailable but their Vetrans team keeper Nick Goodwin stepped into the breach and despite the scoreline gave a superb performance. Tollesbury were two goals up in the first ten minutes thanks to an angled shot from Andy Gibbons and then a powerful head from Harry Clover. The visitors could have had another before half time but Goodwin pulled off a brilliant save to thwart Wayne Lamb.
Although Tollesbury remained on top, Harwich improved somewhat but suffered a further set back in the 51st minute when Ashley Stoneman made a fine solo run and although Goodwin parried his first effort he followed up to head the third goal. Harwich had a rare opportunity but substitute Craig Martin's snap shot was saved by Drew Nixon. Tollesbury pressed again and Stoneman's cross beat the Harwich defence and Clover tapped home the 4th goal. Goodwin was forced to produce more heroics before Harwich reduced the arrears when Michael Hammond's through ball was converted by Martin. The final blow was struck by Tollesbury in injury time when substitue Michael Murrell ran through a static Harwich defence to net the fifth goal.
