The Shrimpers gave it their best shot but the quality Students ran out worthy winners.

In soaring temperatures in front of a good crowd of in excess of 100 supporters, the teams provided a highly entertaining game. The University pressed from the start and took the lead in the 20th minute when Jacob Dingli robbed a defender and nutmegged goalkeeper Lee Timmins to score an opportunist goal. University stayed on top during the first half and came close again when they hit the post. In the 43rd minute Darren Bethell had Harwich best chance but the visiting keeper saved his shot with his legs.
After the break Harwich came more into the game but suffered a further setback in the 60th minute when Dingli tricked his marker and slotted in University's second goal. Harwich tried hard to come back and were within inches of scoring when Matt Geen did brilliantly to pull the ball across the goal but the oncoming attacker was unable to apply the finishing touch. With 10 minutes remaining University wrapped up the 3 points when their captain Xavi Sweeney beat the Harwich defensive wall with a free kick from the edge of the penalty area.
In their quest to consolidate their position in the Premier Division, Harwich should not be too disappointed with this reverse as University looked to be amongst the strongest opposition that they will meet.
