Unavailability forced Harwich to make several changes to their line-up. whereas with their first team fixture cancelled Holland were able to strengthen the their team somewhat. Harwich found the strong wind difficult and it was soon evident that they were up against a good Holland team who were taking full advantage. Steve Eaton gave Holland the lead in the 18th minute with a rasping drive. In the 30th minute Luke Straight increased the lead and two minutes later Harwich were in deeper trouble when Ross Thorogood scored from close range. The Shrimpers woes continued with Thorogood making it 4-0 at half time and Harwich were facing a drubbing.
In the second half Harwich came out in determined mood and with the conditions more to their liking put up a spirited performance. In the closing minutes the Shrimpers were rewarded for their efforts when the hard working Robbie Marks was brought down, resulting in the Holland keeper being sent off. Richard Traynor made no mistake from the penalty spot to give Harwich a deserved consolation goal.
