With Martin Calver, Matt and John Stace missing, Harwich still gained 3 valuable points. As last week the strong wind and bouncing ball made it difficult to play attractive football. Harwich took the lead in the 10th minute when Craig Martin shot goalwards and despite the attention of two defenders, Darren Bethell forced the ball into the net. Six minutes later Martin disposed the visitors defence but saw his shot strike the post and Robbie Marks was unable to take advantage. Shortly afterwards Elmden's clever Ali Alamin was denied by a goaline clearance by Jake Neale. Elmden grew in confidence and Bradley Warner volleyed narrowly wide. The flight of a cross deceived Harwich goalkeeper Sam Felgate but he made amends following a corner by Chris Pickard. Both teams had created good chances during a fairly even first half.
Harwich started strongly in the second half and Dan Welsh in the visitors goal saved smarly from Bethell and Robbie May. Elmden's resolute defending and teamwork gave them hope of gaining something from the match with Warner going close again whilst Sam Randle and Chay Fisher spurned chances. In the 80th minute Harwich made the 3 points safe when May released Bethell who finished well.
