Shrimpers rocked by smart Coggeshall but fight back to win

With the pitch rain soaked the teams warmed up nearby. Harwich were forced to make changes but still fielded a strong side. Coggeshall started well but Callum Knightsbridge missed a good chance when clean through in the 13th minute. Harwich eventually settled and from a good move Marks shot over. Coggeshall were the better team at this stage and took the lead in the 20th minute when goalkeeper Sam Felgate failed to punch clear and Hawthorn bundled the ball over the line. The Shrimpers were level a minute later when Martin Calver scored with a well taken shot from inside the penalty box. Coggeshall came back strongly almost scoring when there was a scramble on the goal line and later hitting the crossbar. Good finishing saw Harwich take the lead in the 26th minute when Darren Bethell netted from Robbie Marks pass. With 10 minutes of the half remaining Ashley Wood increased Harwich lead from close range. Coggeshall keeper Matt Willis made some good saves but a 3-1 lead for Harwich at the break was rather flattering.
Surprisingly currently second from bottom Coggeshall were playing good football and stormed back after the break. Sam Willis reduced the arrears for them and then they were level when Ross Catchpole equalised in the 60th minute. Harwich had their backs to the wall now and Coggeshall were the better team. Disaster struck Coggeshall when Ashley Wood sent over an excellent danagerous cross and a defender headed into his own net to restore Harwich lead. Martin Calver had battled hard to inspire Harwich to stay in the game and in the 85th minute he headed Harwich fifth goal to make the points save, keeping the Shrimpers in 3rd spot in the Division table.
