West Bergholt took the lead in the 14th minute in their first real attack when pressure on Harwich keeper Sam Felgate resulted in Carl Kingsley snapping up the chance to score. Play was then evenly contested in midfield until the 35th minute when West Bergholt's dangerous attacker Connor Read struck the crossbar with a rasping drive. There was then a furious spell of attacking at both ends. Harwich survived a spell of intense pressure and then broke away with Robbie Marks and Luis Reynolds going close.
Harwich deservedly equalised in the 58th minute when Craig Martin beat the offside trap and the keeper before netting from a difficult angle. The Harwich defence, with Ben Hammond dominant in the air, was strong throughout. In attack Martin's speed worried the visitors defence whilst athough Marks could not get a clear cut opportunity, he held the ball up well. In a hectic finale with both teams seeking the winner, the Shrimpers had a chance to snatch victory with Marks the provider but battlting substitute Mark Sale was unable to find the target with his shot. A fair result in good match in heavy conditions.
