Harwich made a good start and dominated the first 30 minutes, having taken the lead in the 12th minute when Robbie Marks scored with an excellent shot hit from just inside the penalty area. The Shrimpers should have added to their lead and were made to pay when Hatfield Peverel mounted only their second serious attack in the 33rd minute and Sam Bordan equalised with a good finish. Three minutes after half time Bordan shocked Harwich again by giving Hatfield Peverel the lead. Hatfield Peverel are fighting to avoid relegation and they were inspired now as they forced Harwich to defend desperately. In the 75th minute the match swung in Harwich favour when Darren Bethell's goal bound shot was diverted by his colleague Steve Olhamstead's header to nestle in the net. Two minutes later Marks put Harwich ahead from the penalty spot and then in the 85th minute Bethell scored the Shrimpers fourth goal to made victory secure.
