Lawford started the more determined team and deservedly took the lead in the 15th minute with a well struck shot by Gus Galloway. Robbie Marks equalised for Harwich in the 37th minute with an excellent shot from 18 yards. Harwich had now managed to get their act together and Jimmy Chatters crossed for the clinical Marks to shoot the Shrimpers into the lead just one minute before half time. Lawford pressed from the restart but found Shrimpers goalkeeper Scott Wass in fine form with a spectacular double save. Wass was the Harwich hero again, diving to save Chris Upton’s spot kick. However Lawford’s efforts were duly rewarded in the 75th minute with Galloway putting them back on level terms. It was an entertaining encounter and both teams had chances to snatch victory in the closing stages but a draw was a fitting result.
