Holders Harwich relinquish grip on the Cup against all conquering Gas Rec

Harwich were rocked by an unprecedented number of call offs which forced them to rearrange their line up and also cancel their Reserve Team fixture.
The Shrimpers took the lead in the 6th minute when Robbie Marks crossed for Darren Bethell to net with an excellent finish from the edge of the penalty area. Harwich did really well in the first half and looked to be going in with a lead until the 42 minute when Wheeler equalised.
Harwich were on the back foot at the start of the second half and Matt Greenley gave Gas Rec the lead in a crowded goalmouth. A Greenley header midway through the half increased the home sides lead and their superiority was undeniable now. The Shrimpers had a chance which teenager Jamie Beecham was just unable to put away but in the closing minutes Eldon Craig netted a fourth goal for the impressive Gas Rec.
