Only industious midfielder Tom Brannon looked likely to turn the match in Harwich favour and he stunned a Toby team, who had been on top, when he gave the Shrimpers a 44th minute lead with an excellent free kick. There was trouble for Harwich in the 55th minute when goalkeeper Scott Wass dived to push out a shot and Ian McBane followed up to net Toby’s equaliser.
Harwich had a couple of chances to regain the lead, firstly when Jimmy Chatters was put clean through but was foiled by a timely tackle and later when Darren Bethell’s shot struck the crossbar.
However Toby’s ace marksman Paul Carr, who has already netted over 20 goals this season, scored their winner in the 80th minute with a cool finish.
