Harwich unlucky not to draw with League Leaders

Harwich were without their experienced goalscorers, Jimmy Chatters and Darren Bethell, but fortunately were still able to call on the evergreen Robbie Marks and another proven scorer in Steve Oldhamstead. Gas Rec. established a 2-0 half time lead but Harwich came back strongly after the break to level the scores. The hosts then restored their advantage to remain in the lead but Harwich were not done and almost snatched a point in the dying minutes with an effort that passed only inches outside the post. Gas Rec. scorers, all former Shrimpers from Ridgeons League days, were M. Greenley, L. Taylor, R. Thorne (2), whilst the Harwich goals were notched by Michael Hammond, Robbie Marks and Steve Oldhamstead.
