After a tentative opening, Harwich took the lead in the 22 minute when midfielder Michael Murray ran through to finish in style. The Shrimpers scored again in the 27th minute and again it was with a well taken shot, this time by Robbie Marks. Young full back Ben Hammond was impressive for Harwich and just before half time he crossed perfectly for Marks header to force a fine diving save from visiting keeper Graham Smith.
The Shrimpers continued to play well in the second half and sealed victory in the 68th minute when Daryl Johnston headed their third goal from Tom Brannan’s corner kick.
