The Shrimpers took the lead in the 15th minute with an excellent goal created by Ryan Heath’s clever pass and finished by Robbie Mark’s slick shot. Their second goal 5 minutes later was equally as good with Ryan Heath’s pin point cross headed home by Mark Palmer, who had stolen in on the blind side of the visitors defence. Harwich continued to be the better side until half time and fully deserved their two goal interval lead.
Newbury Forest were back in the game in the 58th minute with a headed goal by Jason Reynolds-Blanche. The urgency that had been lacking in Forest first half display was there now and with the Shrimpers determined to retain their lead, the match became a cracking contest. There were chances at both ends including Harwich keeper Scott Wass tipping over T. Singh’s goal bound shot and his opposite number Mark Parker doing well to save at Ryan Heath’s feet. With Forest desperate for an equaliser, the injury time played by the Referee seemed an eternity but Harwich held out and over the 90 minutes deserved this important victory.
