Rowhedge 1 - 15 Harwich & Parkeston Under 13's Blues

Following results elsewhere today, Harwich were deservedly confirmed as B league runners-up and can now look forward to starting the new campaign in the top flight. A superb achievement for the boys and just rewards for the hard work and dedication that they have shown throughout the season. Preparations have already begun for the new season which will no doubt present an enormous challenge and the boys will need to show every ounce of determination in order to succeed. The team will be fit and organised and will not be looking to simply make the numbers up.

Harwich completed their season with a comprehensive win against Rowhedge to end their season in style. After last week's inept performance the boys were clearly in the mood to make amends and an unfortunate Rowhedge side were on the receiving end.

Harwich dominated from kick off with Lex opening the scoring after 3 minutes. Will H supplied a number of good crosses and corners from the right hand side and an avalanche of goals followed. Ryan's audacious lob over the keeper was the pick of decent bunch. Rowhedge did score a consolation goal after a mix up in the Harwich defence.

The final goal tally was Lex (6), Jerome (3), Ryan (3), Max (2) and it was good to see Jenson back on the score sheet following a stint in a more defensive role for the second half of the season. James E did add a 16th at the death but for some reason the referee didn't include this on his count back. Sorry James !

Final Score

Rowhedge 1 - 15 Harwich

So that completes an outstanding season for the boys who have worked tirelessly throughout and can be rightly proud of their achievements. My highlights of the season for what it is worth are bizarrely 2 games in which we failed to win. The first half against A-League champions elect Holland FC was stunning. To go in at half-time 3-0 up which could easily have been double that was the best performance of the season and their manager was absolutely shell-shocked although sadly we couldn't hang on in the second half so he had the last laugh. The second game we took an injury-ravaged team to Frinton and sustained wave after wave of attacks throughout the entire match but we defended for our lives and came away with a superb 0-0 draw.

So whether A league football beckons next season is beyond our control but I am certain that we will continue our year on year improvement with many more highs and no doubt a few lows to look forward to next season ! Can't wait .......

Special thanks all the helpers this season, particularly to Mark, Matt and Nickie as everyone will know the effort needed behind the scenes to get the team out on the pitch.
