Harwich soaked up early Stanway pressure but were unable to make much progress offensively and their resistance was broken mid way through the half when Josh in goal was beaten by a low drive. Jerome caused the home defence a few problems but Stanway are an excellent passing team and it was a credit to our boys in containing them to a single goal at half time.
Half Time
Harwich 0 - 1 Stanway
Villa scored early in the second half when the Villa striker reacted quickest to Josh's penalty save to tap in the rebound. This knocked the stuffing out of Harwich and the floodgates duly opened with some superb team and individual goals matched only by the rather overly enthusiastic celebrations from the sidelines. Without sounding like sour grapes perhaps a lesson in winning graciously would be the order of the day.
George Young scored an excellent solo goal starting from his own half to reduce the arrears on his return from injury but despite digging in, Harwich were run ragged and it was somewhat of a relief to hear the final whistle.
Result
