Great Battling Performance!

Harwich expected an early onslaught, which never really materialised as they took control of the game from the off. Harwich created their first, chance after just 20 seconds, great ball from Ethan into the path of TJ, who blasted his chance over the bar. Harwich continued to cause Lawford problems as similar chances followed Omarley and Finn both playing defence splitting passes, but TJ failing to take his chances. Harwich finally broke the dead lock, a superbly weighted ball from William into TJ, who finally hit the back of the net with a powerful shot.

Lawford began to create chances of their own and would of had an almost instant equaliser, but for a superb fingertip save from Oakley to deny Lawford the goal. A crazy 5 minutes though saw Harwich fall behind 1-3 after some disappointing defensive mistakes. Harwich continued to work hard and create chances and 5 minutes before the break grabbed their second of the game. A decent corner falling to Marley in the 6yrd box for him to poke home for his second of the game. Defecit reduced to 1 for the matter of minutes as Lawford went straight up the other end to once again extend their lead. Great fighting spirit from Harwich and 2 superbly struck goals from Marley saw Harwich peg Lawford back once again to make it 4-4 leading up to the break. Unbelievably Lawford managed 2 more goals just before the break. Half time score 4-6.

Harwich dominated much of the second half, but Lawford increasingly troubling them with their pace on the break. Despite Harwich creating chance after chance Lawford managed to add two more to extend their lead to 4-8. After a crazy 60 minutes the game began to fizzle out as one last push from Harwich saw a nicely weighted pass from Marley to send Thomas through, who finished with a tidy shot under the out rushing goalie.

Harwich will be wondering how they lost this game after creating enough chances to win two games. Poor finishing from Harwich has ultimately cost them the game, but on a positive note a far more spirited performance than the previous outing against Lawford. Superb performance from Omarley today, who was back to his best after some below par performances in recent weeks. However, player of the match going to Ethan, who put in an excellent performance playing in an unfamiliar position. Well done Ethan and well done everyone for battling to the very end!!!
