Harwich Back To Winning Ways

After a disappointing performance and result last week Harwich needed a decent result to ensure they kept pace with the league leaders. The game got off to the worse possible start as Jacob was forced off after a nasty kick to the face. Free kick from Dylan moments later though found its way to Marley on the edge of the box, who hit a great looping shot to give Harwich a deserved lead. Harwich continued to control the game and rarely looked troubled as the back four of Finn, Tobi, Dylan and Big Jack were in excellent form. Brandon was also back to his best sitting just in front making a number of vital interceptions. Despite Harwich dominance It wasn't until late in the first half that Harwich finally extended their lead. Great clearance/pass from Finn finding its way to TJ, who finished with a decent shot into the bottom corner. Half time score 2-0.

Harwich continued to dominate the second half, however with limited chances as Lexden defended extremely well. Harwich dominance finally paid off mid way through the half as Brandon played a neat ball through to TJ who smashed the ball into the back of the net to extend the lead. More chances followed for Harwich, Tobi almost scoring after an excellent corner from William and Nelix almost finishing off an excellent Harwich move with a shot just inside the 6yrd box. With 10 minutes to go Harwich let their guard down and conceded a poor goal to give Lexden a glimmer of hope. Another chance for Lexden followed shortly after, free kick just outside the box tipped excellently over the bar by Morgan. Another chance for Lexden cleared off the line from Big Jack. With Lexden committing players forward and Harwich on the back foot, Harwich did what they do best hitting Lexden on the break and Marley finishing with a decent shot in the bottom corner to make it 4-1.

Much better performance from Harwich today and the players showed an excellent attitude in both match and training this week. Several candidates for player of the match the back four were excellent and in particular Big Jack who was superb from start to finish. Player of the match going to William, who put in a superb battling display and showed a great attitude throughout the game. Well done William!
