On the back of a great performance last week, H & P were up against perhaps the strongest team in the league, so a good display was needed in order to get something from the game.
H & P began on the back foot, but never looked like conceding until 30 minutes when a decently struck corner took a nasty deflection inside the 6yrd box and the ball finishing in the top corner. Minutes later a break away from H & P saw TJ brought down heavily inside the box and the referee duly awarding a penalty kick . However, a late flag from the linesman for offside meant a free kick to the opposition instead. Poor decision by the referee, however H and P battled on and finished the half the better side.
The second half was a much more even affair, with H & P as usual looking dangerous on the break. Brookland's continued to carve out chances, however, the back line were very impressive and Oakley in fine form. Mid way through the half H and P should have been awarded a penalty after a blatant handball inside the box, but the referee turning down the appeals and 'ball to hand' taking on a whole new meaning! Moments later another appeal for a penalty was turned down after Marley was taken out inside the box, but the referee again turning the appeals down.
With 5minutes to go and the score still 1-0, H & P decided to throw caution to the wind and switch to three at the back. H and P continued to pile the pressure on as the game entered into injury time. With H and P committing players forward Brooklands took full advantage, hitting H & P on the break to make it 2-0. 2 more goals followed in injury time to make the final score 4-0. Very unfortunate for H and P after matching Brooklands throughout the game.
Great battling performance from H and P today and very undeservedly losing by 4 goals. Some very impressive displays Dylan and Oakley were excellent, however, Omarley being awarded player of the match after an excellent display.
