On Thursday September 18, the young Shrimpers entertain Cambridge City at the Gwinnell & Sons Royal Oak, kick off 7.30pm. Admission is £5 adults, £3 senior citizens and £1 for 17/18-year-olds. Under-16s go free.
City's first team play at Step 4 in the Isthmian League North Division.
Harwich & Parkeston Under-18s had an excellent victory in the first round when they won 4-0 at Felixstowe & Walton United, whose first team play in the same league as Cambridge.
City's Youth team also had an impressive victory, defeating Hadleigh United 6-1 when it was reported that some of the City team had already played Step 4 football.
Our Under-18s also made a good start to their league programme last week beating a good Witham team 4-2. We were trailing at half time but showed great character to come back strongly and run out worthy winners.
If we reproduce our form of these first two outings, it should be a great match, albeit against tough opposition. It is a big adventure for our lads entering such a prestigious Cup - the first time in 20 years the club has taken part in the Youth Cup.
We are looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible to cheer our boys on.
