Royal Oak return in FA Cup

Andrew Schooler4 Jul 2025 - 12:14

AFC Dunstable to be first FA Cup opponents since 2019; Shrimpers also handed a home FA Vase draw.

Harwich and Parkeston’s first FA Cup tie in six years will be at home to AFC Dunstable.
The Shrimpers were paired with the Southern League side in Friday’s extra preliminary round draw and will play host to them on Saturday August 2.
The winners will travel to Tilbury two weeks later.
Bedfordshire-based Dunstable compete in Division One Central of the Southern League, which is at Step 4 of the non-league pyramid – one level higher than Harwich. They finished 14th last season.
Harwich’s last foray into the world’s oldest domestic cup competition was in 2019/20 when they beat Ilford 2-1 away before losing 2-0 on the Oak to Romford.
Matt Carmichael’s side also have a home tie in the FA Vase.
They will entertain Brimsdown on August 23 in the first qualifying round.
Brimsdown play at Step 6 in the Division One South of the Eastern Counties (Thurlow Nunn) League.
Whoever progresses from the tie will be at home again – to Enfield Borough or Clapton Community – on September 20. The Shrimpers faced the latter in last season’s Essex Senior Cup, winning 3-0 at their famous Old Spotted Dog ground.
Both sides also play in ECL Division One South.
Meanwhile, the club will also compete in the FA Youth Cup this season.
Luke Harrison’s youngsters will travel to Felixstowe and Walton United in a preliminary round tie due to take place in the week beginning September 1.
The winners will be at home to Cambridge City or Hadleigh United.
