Player reunion set for September

Club's latest 150th anniversary event to be staged on September 6, alongside home game v Buckhurst Hill.
The club is pleased to announce its latest 150th anniversary event – a player reunion to be staged on Saturday September 6.
As you are probably aware by now, Harwich and Parkeston FC was formed in October 1875 which means the anniversary is fast approaching.
Following a successful reunion to celebrate 125 years of the Royal Oak in 2023, another is now to be held.
The first team will be at home to Buckhurst Hill in an Essex Senior League game that day, kick-off 3pm.
All former players and officials are welcome at the event, which will begin at 1pm and continue after the match, when the England v Andorra World Cup qualifier (KO 5pm) will be shown in the social club.
However, a concerted effort is being made to attract the 1990 Essex Senior Trophy winners, it being 35 years since that achievement, and the 1975/76 side which enjoyed the club’s best-ever run in the FA Trophy. That was 50 years ago this season.
Chairman Tony Armstrong, who played in goal in that 1975/76 team, said: “This season is going to be a memorable one in the long history of this football club, with this reunion just one of several events we’re staging to celebrate 150 years in existence.
“I think everyone who came to the last reunion enjoyed themselves and it was great to catch up with so many old faces. We really hope people will come back again to help us celebrate.
“Whether someone played in a trophy-winning side or in darker days when we were struggling, it doesn’t matter. Every player to have worn the shirt here has played their part over the years and will be most welcome on September 6.”
The official anniversary of the club’s formation is October 25. The Shrimpers will entertain SOUL Tower Hamlets on that day.
