Harwich and Parkeston have been handed a home draw in the opening round of this season’s Emirates FA Cup.
The Shrimpers will play host to Mildenhall Town in the extra preliminary round on Saturday August 8.
The Suffolk side compete at the same level of the Non-League Pyramid – Step 5 – having just been relegated out of the Isthmian League and into the Eastern Counties League. They finished 19th in the Isthmian North Division last season.
The winners of the tie will travel to Gorleston in the following round two weeks later. The Norfolk club finished sixth in that Isthmian North Division last season, missing out on the play-offs on goal difference.
The Shrimpers will be looking for their first win in the competition since 2019. After a six-year break, they only returned to FA Cup action last season when losing 4-2 at home to Step 4 AFC Dunstable.
Meanwhile, the FA Vase draw was also made on Friday with Matt Carmichael and Sean Tynan’s side being sent to fellow Step 5 club Harlow Town.
The first qualifying round tie, against a side who finished 16th in the Premier Division of the Spartan South Midlands League last season, will take place on Saturday August 15 and will see the club bidding for its first victory in the Vase in 19 years.
The winners will be away to either May and Baker Eastbrook Community or London Harts United on September 12. Both play at Step 6 in the Eastern Counties League’s Division One South.
Finally, the HPFC Under-18s, now under the new management of Jodie Battersby, will again compete in the FA Youth Cup this season.
Their opening tie will come in the extra preliminary round, at home to Fakenham Town. The match is scheduled to take place in the week commencing August 17.
The winners will travel to either Ely or Heacham two weeks later.
