The date for the club’s opening Essex Senior Cup tie of the season has now been confirmed.
With both the Shrimpers and opponents Buckhurst Hill having been eliminated from the FA Cup, Saturday August 16 has been chosen as the date for the first-round encounter.
It will take place on the Royal Oak, kick-off 3pm.
Last season, Matt Carmichael’s side reached the last 16 of the county competition, recording a famous victory over Step 3 side Bowers and Pitsea along the way. It was the club’s first win over a side three levels above in 34 years.
Buckhurst Hill are fellow members of the Essex Senior League and currently sit seventh with Harwich 12th in the embryonic table. The two sides are also due to meet on the Oak in the league on September 6.
The Stags’ last visit to the Oak came in July 2021 when keeper Brad Cook’s man-of-the-match display earned the hosts a goalless draw on the opening day of the Eastern Counties League season.
